I love what one commenter, Sha’Tara, said, ‘One thing I do know: men need us, and because of that, they fear us.’ She talked about inventing ourselves outside of patriarchy, as power and control is THEIR thing. DEMEANING and BELITTING women trying to take back some of that power with their own sexuality is a patriarchal (and sexist) thing, too. We can use our sexuality to show we are equal but it is true we will always be ‘exploited for male consumption.’ During National Go Topless Day, the classy Break wrote, ‘ let’s not pretend they are going to convince any men this is about gender equality. All we see are tits,’ (Richard Parsons). You see my point, right?
“there’s no such thing as “taking control” of being objectified. the women who say that through stripping or other forms of performative sexuality they are regaining control of their own objectification aren’t understanding the concept of control. control is gained through power, power is systematic and industrialized, power is not a feeling. you can feel good while you’re being objectified, or you can feel bad, but realistically that changes nothing about the exchange: the woman being exploited for male consumption. “

There is huge business around here renting out rooms. I intermittently rent out a room or two myself but always end up regretting it. Then I do it again. My current tenants hate my cat. They are allowed to hate my cat but they must do so quietly. Let’s put it this way, they are moving out in a few weeks because they bothered me so much about the cat.
They are a couple and the woman (girl) in particular was obsessive, and I mean completely and totally obsessive, about extra cat hair delusions. Yes, my cat sheds. But she is not a long-haired cat–please check the rest of my blog for pics of #hillarythecat–and the shedding is minimal. I’m also a clean person. However, every morning before I could even get out of bed this woman was sweeping up imaginary extra cat hair on the floor and SLAMMING the broom against my door. Obviously, she wanted to live in the street.

Nengkoy is the nickname of my mom during her pre-school years. Her parents and relatives call her ‘Ang Neneng Ko’. With her pretty charm and appeal, she was usually called in a melodic way using this lovely phrase. Until it evolved for easier articulation of the phrase, Ang Neneng Ko was shorten to Nengkoy.
